A Green Industrial DUMBO Wedding
I had the absolute honor of capturing my dear friends’ wedding just a couple weeks ago. I’ve known them for over a decade, which is crazy because Michael and I are THIRTY this year! I still remember being on worship team with Michael during our freshman year of college. Between class, church, and other meetings, I literally saw him every single day. The first time I spent time with Annie as Michael’s girlfriend, I remember being immediately drawn to her endearing, refreshing, and honest personality. I pulled Michael aside and whispered, “I really like her!!” I’m pretty sure after every reunion or get-together, I always bugged him about when he was going to pop the question! This wedding has been a long time coming, and I am blessed to be able to have a friendship with these two that spans over so many different stages and seasons.
Speaking of seasons, it’s said that March is “in like a lion, out like a lamb” but did Winter Storm Stella prove us wrong! Not only did Stella drop two feet of snow days before the wedding, but sleet and hail started coming down in the middle of bridal party photos! Mike, Annie, and their bridal party (including the ring boy and flower girl!) were serious champs for braving the cold and the hail. You’d never guess by their smiles and genuine interactions that they were actually shivering from the freezing temps.
When the hail gave way to snow, we were glad to have moved on to the warm and welcoming venue, 26 Bridge. Mike and Annie churned out some serious DIY magic to turn the former factory into an elegant ceremony and reception hall that was SO uniquely them. The green industrial theme of the wedding came to life as the organic colors of fresh flowers and eucalyptus leaves contrasted beautifully against all the exposed brick and structural steel. In that place, in front of all of their dearest family and friends, they worshipped with all their hearts, made their vows to each other, and celebrated into the night, complete with a selection of their favorite NYC eats and custom cocktails!
Annie + Michael, no one deserves this beautiful, genuine, joy-filled day more than you two. Your love and adventurous spirits are contagious and I absolutely loved being surrounded by it on your wedding day (through rain, hail, snow and all!) Cheers to many more decades of love and seasons of friendship!
