Grace + Jonathan’s wedding was a mix of classy, understated elegance, and NYC charm. I’m honored to have worked with such a wonderful team to help this day come together, and SO excited to share that it’s published in Carats and Cake! You can view the feature here.
From the bride:
When I thought of my wedding ceremony I pictured the faces of friends and family having a great time so that naturally means delicious food and an open bar. But the décor element was a big learning curve for me. A tip I would give brides like me is to narrow down on a style earlier on and it will help save time with decisions in the long run. Also there are so many wedding vendor options out there – limit yourself to checking out no more than 5 and make a decision. To make this as personal as possible, we made sure to incorporate our loves into one day – cherry blossoms, food, supporting women entrepreneurs. We had cherry blossoms as center pieces splashed around the reception area to create some visual drama in the room.
We selected hot sauces as our seating chart. We both love spicy food and cannot live without hot sauce. One of our very first dates was at the Brooklyn Hot Ones location trying out different hot sauces and then binge watching the Hot Ones show with Sean Evans. Our guest book was a menu book created by the famous, French born American chef, Jacques Pepin called “A Book for Your Meals and Memories” with beautiful illustrations and a page to write down friends you’ve invited over for delicious meals.
Our plan was to be thoughtful about our vendors as well and as an avid supporter of women entrepreneurs we wanted to create a dream team of women bosses. It started off with the venue – the Wythe Hotel. The executive chef at the Wythe Hotel, Christian Lecki, drew us to having the wedding at the Wythe (not to mention the beautiful venue itself). We also added to the dream team of women: Rose Ahn Events (Coordinator), Kara Wedding (Wedding Dress), Dana Yu Creative(Photographer), August Sage & Violet (Flowers), VickyC5 (Makeup and Hair), Lucky Bird (Cake), Little Cake Toppers(Cake Topper), and Tocaya (Coffee Beans roasted in Brazil- https://www.tocaya.com.br/)
Celebrating a momentous day with friends and family surrounded by bright florals and soft lighting made it seem magical but one of my favorite moments was during the ceremony when the officiate asked us (bride + groom) to turn around and take a look at the crowd of family and friends who came out to witness us getting married was rare and moving.
